Third annual fall workshop

From 17 to 19 November 2025, doctoral researchers and principal investigators from all subprojects reviewed their progress, worked in collaboration groups on joint publications and discussed shared methodological challenges.

Prof. Sebastian Trimpe (RWTH Aachen University) presented “Learning Controllers for Machines: Paradigms and Recent Results”.

Three papers accepted at NeurIPS 2025

ROBIN, AMBER and MaNGO, three papers on learned mesh-based simulation led by subproject M2, were accepted at NeurIPS 2025. ROBIN was selected as a spotlight.

Top-three placements in the Text2SPARQL challenge

A team from subproject F placed among the top three in several sub-challenges of the Text2SPARQL challenge at the Extended Semantic Web Conference (ESWC) 2025.

Oral presentation at ICLR 2025

HEPi, a geometry-aware reinforcement learning method for manipulating deformable objects from subprojects M2 and M4, was presented as an oral at ICLR 2025 in Singapore.

Dr. Lars Bittrich (Leibniz-Institut für Polymerforschung Dresden) presented “Using Machine Learning to Increase Production Accuracy in Tailored Fiber Placement”.

Second annual fall workshop

From 18 to 20 November 2024, doctoral researchers and principal investigators met for three days to align ongoing collaborations across the subprojects.

Best Student Paper Award at IEEE INDIN 2024

The paper by Saksham Kiroriwal and co-authors on joint parameter and state-space modelling of manufacturing processes with Gaussian processes received the Best Student Paper Award in the AI for Industry track of IEEE INDIN 2024.
